A Review of Pi'erre Bourne's "The Life Of Pi'erre 4"
Coming off his impressive production on his 2019 collab project with Young Nudy titled, “Sli’merre,” producer Pi’erre Bourne tries his hand at rapping with the release of his 2019 debut studio album titled “The Life Of Pi’erre 4.” Pi’erre Bourne has had some success with verses in the past, most notably his verse on Playboi Carti’s “Right Now,” as well as on his 2018 single titled “Hacked My Instagram.” With the release of “The Life Of Pi’erre 4” Pi’erre Bourne looks to make his rapping ability as known as his success making beats. Taking a look at the tracklist, Pi’erre Bourne’s “The Life Of Pi’erre 4” is made up of 16 songs which equate to a little over 50 minutes of music. There are no features throughout the sixteen songs on the project with every beat being produced by Pi’erre Bourne as well. With this, I look for Pi’erre Bourne to show some versatility with each song while still being able to establish a sound for himself as a rapper.

Must Listen Songs
The concept of Must Listen songs are the songs that would give the best overview of the album as a whole. Songs that stand out for reasons to be described in the pending descriptions of the songs.
“Ballad”
The fifth song on Pi’erre Bourne’s debut album, “The Life Of Pi’erre 4” is a love ballad which makes the song appropriately named. On this song, Pi’erre Bourne uses his cadence to tell a story about a girl whom he has caught feelings for. Pi’erre’s cadence and ability to drag notes create a love song vibe along with relatable lyrics such as “worried about your ex, you should be worried ‘bout what’s next.” The beat, also produced by Pi’erre is a soft guitar-driven beat, with a slow high hat to go along with it. The beat on this song works because it allows more space for Pi’erre to vocalize throughout the song as he recalls interactions he has had with the girl he’s singing about.
“How High”
Track eight on Pi’erre Bourne’s “The Life Of Pi’erre 4” is a bass-driven beat with a smooth flute background and soft high hats creating a slow chill vibe on it. Pi’erre’s cadence adds to the chill vibe of the song as Pi’erre’s soft cadence fluctuates at times to his normal voice. The flow used on the song leaves a lot of space for adlibs and for the beat to simply just exist which allows for the listener to appreciate the beat. On the skit Pi’erre has a skit of Lil Uzi Vert on a phone conversation with a girl, trying to get her to say “Yo Pi’erre you wanna come out here.” The beat rocks throughout the skit giving the listener more time to appreciate it.
“Horoscopes”
Song number thirteen on “The Life Of Pi’erre 4” has a more noticeable high hat than some of the other songs on the album, however, the bass still drives the beat. The story of the song is Pi’erre’s flow on the verses and the catchiness of the hook. On the hook, Pi’erre repeats “Baby, come vibe, let’s spend time” creating a catchiness to the song along with the repetition of “yeah, for real” as an adlib through the song.
Final Review
Pi’erre Bourne’s “The Life Of Pi’erre 4” is the best Hip-Hop project of 2019 to date! Firstly, the production, done by Pi’erre Bourne was exceptional on every track, which is to be expected from the producer of hits like “Magnolia” by Playboi Carti, “GUMMO” by 6ix9ine, etc… However, Pi’erre Bourne’s production manages to surpass already high expectations by the detail of having each beat flow into the next creating a seamless transition from song to song. What this does is carry the momentum from the previous song, to the next song, keeping the listener’s hype, while also pleasantly surprising them as well. The vocal performance by Pi’erre Bourne also exceeded my expectations. His ability to drag a note on the more R&B sounding songs over a trap beat while not confusing the listener of the mood of the song is super impressive. The way he was able to set up and execute flows in a charismatic delivery did nothing but impress me as well. I also appreciate Pi’erre Bourne’s attention to the little details. The placement of his tag is executed near perfection on every song, and I also like the use of the “Damn, Pi’erre where’d you find this?” tag on songs such as “Feds” and “Racer.” I also like a Pi’erre’s decision to create a seamless transition from song to song by, simply switching the beat in the final seconds of a song to match the beat of the upcoming song. The skits at the end of each song add to the value of the song, allowing the beat to play over whatever tag or conversation Pi’erre inserts for each song. Overall, Pi’erre Bourne’s “The Life Of Pi’erre 4” is a near perfect summertime album with absolutely no skips, making it the best album thus far into 2019!
