No aspect of A$AP Ferg is missing on "Floor Seats"

It’s been a crazy few weeks for the A$AP Mob has been dealing with A$AP Rocky and Co. getting arrested in Sweden amid an assault case. Now that Rocky and his friends are home, the other members of the Mob can relax, but the cozy crew is already back on attack mode starting with arguably the only other member as recognizable as Flacko, A$AP Ferg who drops off a short EP “Floor Seats” to close out a City Boy/Hot Girl summer.

With many rumors pointing to an alleged volume 3 to A$AP Mob’s “Cozy Tapes” series, this may be the only Solo project we get from an A$AP Mob member this year.

However, Ferg has been doing features all over Hip-Hop, being featured on several albums like Rich The Kid’s label album “Rich Forever 4” on the song “Flex Up”, Mustard’s album “Perfect 10” on the song “On GOD” along with A$AP Rocky, Tyga and YG, as well as E-40’s new project “Practice Makes Paper” on the song “Chase the Money”.

His first solo project since his 2017 release “Still Striving”, the 9 song, 27-minute project covers a lot of different bases and totes quite a few features although such a concise project.

Ferg shows his irresistible energy, flamboyant style, and incredible versatility, giving Ferg fans a little bit of everything to tide them over before his next full-length project.

Categories

Other than the experimental tracks and classic hip hop cut, the rest of the songs can be broken down into 2 sections.

Experimental/Non-Trap Banger

Ferg takes the time to stray away from regular radio smash hits, and puts together a few tracks with unorthodox beats and intricate rap styles.

  • “Floor Seats” (.5)

  • “Pups” ft. A$AP Rocky (1.5)

  • “Butt Naked” ft. Rico Nasty (1)

Slower songs

Ferg pulls up for late-night groves both featuring great soul singers to soothe your eardrums.

  • “Ride ft. Ty Dolla $ign” (1)

  • “Dreams, Fairytales, Fantasies” ft. Brent Faiyaz (1.5)

Hard Trap

Ferg makes sure to make tracks for the clubs, coming through with a few tracks to get your blood pumping.

  • “Jet Lag” (1.5)

  • “Wam” ft. MadeinTYO (1)

  • “Wigs” ft. Asian Doll (1)

  • “Hummer Limo” (1.5)

Must Listen Songs

The concept of Must Listen songs are the songs that would give the best overview of the album as a whole. Songs that stand out for reasons to be described in the pending descriptions of the songs.

“Pups” ft. A$AP Rocky

Produced by Frankie P, A$AP Mob members Rocky and Ferg do Harlem proud over a pure hip hop cut. Boasting their lavish lifestyles and their long term bonds with lines like: “Felt bad I never finished college/ Now we f**kin' cuties with booties in Dapper Dan silk pajamas”.

“Jet Lag”

Over a minimal piano a hard 808 and violent snare produced by Ben Jayne & Beat Billionaire, Ferg flexes on, well… everyone. The 2nd cut on the album is a bouncy trap song that is all about lavish living. With lines like: “I got chips with a lot of drip, comin' by the load/

Prada trench, too legit, 30,000 dollar coat”

“Dreams, Fairytales, Fantasies” ft. Brent Faiyaz

Paying homage to the classic Bad Boy R&B sound, Ferg pens an ode to a lover. Produced by Saalam Remi, the smooth beat is only a canvas to Ferg and Faiyaz’s fantasies of women driving them crazy. The chorus being: “I'm in a dream, fairy tale, fantasy when you're around me/ I must be losing my mind”

Final Review

With the exception of the incredible faithful Chancellor Bennett, It’s been a summer of shorter projects. Even only 9 songs, it doesn’t stop Ferg from showing his wide range of talent and ability, as well as bringing in quite a versatile list of features for the project. Over the 9 songs, he hits many different levels, starting with the title track, a very experimental track that starts as a regular trap sounding song until Ferg comes in with a wild verse muddy with effects and raw energy. Of the many features, a stand out is the Rocky feature “Pups,” where the two trade bars over a NY styled beat. The two Harlem juggernauts take a break from hitmaking to show off their rapping ability making for a standout track. Another experimental standout is the track “Butt Naked” featuring Rico Nasty, where Rico’s signature wild energy is somehow matched by Ferg, the two let out some negative energy over a crazy beat that mixes sounds of electric music and Hip Hop. No aspect of Ferg is missing on this project and fans should be more than happy to be blessed with a Rocky feature. Its been a long ride since Ferg first pulled up on the scene, and he has made a name for himself by conquering many sounds, flows, and styles. This project is a perfect mini complication of his repertoire and will definitely please Ferg fans and Hip-Hop fans alike.
